As a Cooperative Extension Specialist in Agricultural and Resource Economics and Director of the University's Small Farm Program, my work focuses on alternative marketing systems. My recent research has related primarily to how producers can collaborate in vertical linkages with processors, grocers, food service operations and other downstream entities to improve their viability. I am especially interested in the retention of postharvest quality of produce, and the selection of high quality varieties of produce for small producers, who often direct market their produce under challenging conditions.
